Botanical bike rides are back! And we are starting off the fall season with a combination of botanizing and birding! The Canada Geese are honking, the Wood Ducks are showing off their striking colors, and the Sandhill Cranes have been flying overhead, and there are stories to tell about all our feathered friends. We will learn the basics of birding, local botany and dive into nature writing.
Participants should expect to bike up to 8 miles total, on mostly flat and paved, gravel and dirt trails. We will begin at Tingley Beach and make stops along the way to the Rio Grande Nature Center. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow. This program will run for four hours with a one-hour lunch break. Please bring water, a pack lunch, a journal or sketchbook and something to write with.
There is room for 8 cyclists and participation is offered at a sliding scale exchange of $45 (for those with financial stressors), $55 (true cost) or $65 (pay it forward). Please select the amount that best reflects your current financial capacity and privilege. If you would like to volunteer as our bike mechanic and have your registration waived, please email us at songdogrelations@gmail.com
