In 2022 we created a native plant guide for a handful of annual and perennial species found within the Mojave and Colorado deserts of Southern California. After living and working across the Morongo Basin and Coachella Valley for many years, we became familiar with the cycles of these plants and the stories they held. Please enjoy the photography, personal notes and suggestions on where you may find these wonderful plants.

In this guide you will find notes on the cultural and natural histories of native plants such as Desert Globe Mallow, Chickory, California Barrel Cactus and more! When possible, plants are listed alongside their common names in English, Spanish and traditional names in Cahuilla. Lastly, a list of resources is provided for those that wish to deepen their studies and practice in desert ecologies of Southern California. There are 44 pages total, with 42 pages dedicated to these wonderful relations, enjoy!
