What is I'M STILL HERE?
I'M STILL HERE is a zine dedicated to sharing the stories of Queer People of Color (POC) who have survived sexual violence. For the past month I have been accepting submissions from Queer POC survivors from all over the world, and I feel that it is imperative to provide a space to honor their work. This is art that not only needs to be REPRESENTED, but needs to be SUSTAINABLE! Therefore, we are asking for donations to fund the physical and emotional labor that is being poured into this project by Queer POC Survivors.

Why was this project started?
Queer POC face alarming rates of violence including sexual assault, yet their stories are hardly represented in media, the courtrooms and our communities. In addition, fear of being outed often forces queer survivors to remain silent about their experiences. As a result, many of us feel utterly alone when really there are Queer POC all over the world surviving violence every day. This project was started to create a brave space for survivors to be able to feel connected to each other.

This event is being organized by Xica Necia in collaboration with the Pop Up Art Collective. Xica Necia is a Nica-Xapina, queer, femme poet and survivor of sexual assault. The Pop Up Art Collective was started in 2016 and hosts pop up art shows for local artists to be able to share their work.
